The Registrar General for Scotland has published provisional figures for births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships registered during the second quarter of 2011.
The figures show:
- 14,705 births were registered in the second quarter of the year - 37 (0.3%) fewer than in the same period of 2010.
- At 8,641, the number of marriages was 351 more than in the second quarter of 2010.
- 134 civil partnerships (53 male and 81 female) were registered in the quarter, seven more than in the second quarter of 2010.
- 12,969 deaths were registered in Scotland in the second quarter of 2011 - 1.2% more than in the same period of 2010.
