Latest statistics on civil partnerships and marriage

The Registrar General for Scotland has published provisional figures for births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships registered during the second quarter of 2011.

 

The figures show:

 

  • 14,705 births were registered in the second quarter of the year - 37 (0.3%) fewer than in the same period of 2010.
  • At 8,641, the number of marriages was 351 more than in the second quarter of 2010.
  • 134 civil partnerships (53 male and 81 female) were registered in the quarter, seven more than in the second quarter of 2010.
  • 12,969 deaths were registered in Scotland in the second quarter of 2011 - 1.2% more than in the same period of 2010.
