Recent research from America has found that many former cohabiting couples continue to have a romantic relationship even after they stop living together, reports the Ohio State University Research News.
The study found that this trend was particularly prevalent in low-income families, where as many as 25% of couples who used to live together continue to have a relationship.
Researchers noted that this continued relationship could be beneficial for any children the couple had. Author of the study, Claire Kamp Dush, explained:
“Children whose parents are still romantically involved are going to see the parent they don’t live with more often, and that’s generally good.”
“Research has shown that father involvement is beneficial for children, and that involvement is one benefit we could see if couples continue a romantic relationship even after they stop living together.”
