YourTango.com has kicked off its third annual "Break Up With Your Ex" campaign after a new survey found that 67% of respondents — including 46% of those who are married —think about their exes too much. A whopping 80% of respondents want to stop thinking about their exes altogether.
Nearly half of respondents say that this attachment to their former partner is interfering with their current relationships, or prevents them from finding new love.
The survey also found that:
- 51% of respondents say they unfriend exes on Facebook (up from 41% who reported doing so in 2011.)
- Cheating/betrayal and communication issues were the top two causes of breakups and divorces.
- Around 44% agree that starting a new relationship is the most effective way to detach from a former partner.
