The incidence of domestic violence against men has risen by 11% over the past year, reports the BBC.
Figures published by the charity Abused Men in Scotland (AMIS) have shown that number of reported male domestic violence incidents has increased for the 11th year in a row, reaching a total of 9,648.
AMIS obtained the figures through freedom of information requests to the eight police forces across Scotland. The statistics reveal differences in the level of male domestic abuse across the different regions. Strathclyde had the highest incidence, with male victims accounting for 20.59% of reported domestic abuse cases. Dumfries and Galloway had the lowest level, at 12.02%.
