A new report from the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), an independent think-tank, has criticised the Government's record on supporting marriage and its efforts to reverse high and damaging levels of family breakdown.
The CSJ is concerned about the decline in marriage because it claims that children born outside wedlock are far more likely to grow up in poverty and experience poorer life chances.
The report is also concerned that not enough is being done to prevent the breakdown of families, claiming that the Government has focused its efforts on picking up the pieces after relationships have broken down, rather than expanding services designed to prevent the breakdown from happening.
