The Scotsman newspaper reports on a recent survey which has revealed that around 40% of men contemplating marriage are choosing to go on a foreign holiday to propose to their girlfriends.
According to the Scotsman, the United States is the destination of choice for most men planning on getting engaged, and a restaurant is the most popular venue for a proposal.
The proposal didn't always come as a surprise though, as the survey revealed that over 70% of women suspected that an offer of marriage was on the way.
