A business man has won his appeal to the Court of Appeal in England over the amount of money awarded in a 'divorce' settlement to his former civil partner, reports the Herald.
Don Gallagher, an actor, and Peter Lawrence, an equity analyst, had lived together since 1997, and entered into a civil partnership in 2007. Their relationship broke down seven months later.
The couple had joint assets worth around £4 million, and the High Court ruled that Mr Gallagher should receive a share of around £1.7 million, which included one of the couple's two properties.
Mr Lawrence successfully argued on appeal that this was too big a share, and the Court of Appeal ruled the settlement should be reduced by over £200,000.
