Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS) has issued its joint inspection report on the protection of children and young people in the Midlothian area.
The inspection looked at services provided to children by a variety of public of bodies, including the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration, and also a number of voluntary organisations. SCSWIS awarded Midlothian services three evaluations of good and three evaluations of satisfactory.
Key strengths identified in Midlothian's child protection services included:
- Chief Officers’ commitment to improving services to protect children.
- Partnership working and collective responsibility at a senior management level.
- The range and availability of flexible multi-agency training programmes.
