Mother wins international custody battle

A French woman has been awarded custody of her ten-year-old daughter, who has been living in Saudi Arabia with her father, a Saudi prince, for the past three and a half years, reports the Telegraph.

Candice Cohen-Ahnine and Prince Sattam al-Saud met 14 years ago, and had a daughter together in 2001. The couple later separated in 2006.

Miss Cohen-Ahnin claims that the prince kidnapped their daughter in 2008, during a visit to Saudi Arabia, and that she has only been allowed brief visits with her since then.

The French court has ordered that the prince return the girl to her mother's custody, and pay child support of £8,300 per month. The prince has so far refused to comply with the court order.
